The 2026 GSW Theme is: Systems Do Save Lives.

The International Student Surgical Network unites for Global Surgery Week 2026 with a shared commitment: ensuring everyone, everywhere has access to safe, affordable, and timely surgical, anaesthesia, and obsteric care. 

This year's theme, "Systems Do Save Lives: Integrating Emergency, Critical, and Operative (ECO) care," highlights the need for stronger, more connected health systems. ECO are deeply interconnected and when they are not effectively integrated, lives are lost. 

Through our coordinated efforts with patients, communities, and professionals we can strengthen and ensure care reaches those who need it most.
